About these terms
- These terms are an agreement between ProctoHire, based in Pune, Maharashtra, India ("ProctoHire", "we", "us"), and the organisation that opens a ProctoHire workspace ("you").
- The person who accepts them confirms they may act for that organisation.
- By creating a workspace or using ProctoHire, you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- ProctoHire is sold to organisations for hiring. It is not sold to consumers.
The service
- ProctoHire is online software for hiring: tests and proctored assessments, grading and review, one-way video answers, interviews and scheduling, hiring workflows, careers pages and offer letters.
- It runs in a web browser. Nothing is installed or shipped. See our Shipping and Delivery Policy.
- We may improve or change features. We will not remove a main feature you pay for without telling you first.
Accounts
- Give true details and keep them up to date.
- Keep passwords safe. You are responsible for what is done in your workspace, including by your team members.
- Every user must be at least 18.
- Tell us at once at [email protected] if you think someone has used your account without permission.
Free trial
- A new workspace gets a 14-day free trial with every feature. No card is needed.
- The trial includes ₹100 of AI usage, once, to try the AI features on real candidates. When it is used up, AI features pause; everything else keeps working.
- If you do not choose a plan by the end of the trial, you keep full use for 7 more days. After that the workspace becomes read-only (see "Read-only workspaces").
Plans and payment
- Every plan includes all of ProctoHire, without limits on tests, candidates, team members or interviews. Plans differ in how much AI usage is included each month. The plans and their prices are on our Pricing page.
- Plans are monthly. You pay each month in advance through Razorpay, our payment provider, by card, UPI or another method it offers. The plan renews every month until you cancel.
- If you choose a plan during the trial, the first charge is on the day the trial ends.
- Prices are in Indian rupees for an Indian billing address and in US dollars elsewhere. A plan's price includes the payment provider's fee.
- ProctoHire is not registered for GST at present, so no GST is charged. If that changes, prices will show the tax and we will tell you before it applies to you.
- Moving to a bigger plan takes effect at once: you pay the difference for the rest of the month, shown before you pay, and the extra AI is added at once. Moving to a smaller plan takes effect at the end of the month.
- We may change prices. We tell you by email before a new price applies to you, and it starts with your next billing month. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, Razorpay tries again. You keep full use for 7 days from the first failed payment. After that the workspace is read-only until a payment goes through.
AI usage and top-ups
- Each month's AI usage is included in your plan. It resets at the start of each billing month; unused AI does not carry over.
- To keep costs predictable, a single day can use at most a quarter of the month's AI until you top up, and some features have limits, such as how many answers per candidate are graded by AI. Settings › Billing and usage shows them, and which ones you can change.
- When the month's AI is used up, AI features pause until the next billing month or until you top up. Tests and interviews in progress are not stopped, and everything that does not use AI keeps working.
- A top-up adds extra AI usage: a top-up of ₹500 adds exactly ₹500 of AI usage (in US dollars, the same). The payment fee is added on top at checkout, never taken out of the top-up.
- Top-ups are used only after the month's AI, and each one lasts 12 months from purchase. Unused top-up AI expires after that.
- Top-ups are not refundable, except for duplicate or erroneous payments (see our Refund and Cancellation Policy).
- Where automatic top-ups are offered, they are off until you turn them on. You choose the amount and a monthly limit, and your bank tells you before each automatic charge.
Cancellation
- You can cancel at any time in Settings › Billing and usage.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your plan until the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- We do not refund part of a month, including unused days.
- Cancelling does not touch your top-ups, and they are not refunded. Unused top-up AI stays until it expires, 12 months after each purchase. After the plan ends it is still used for AI on work already in the workspace, and if you choose a plan again it is used after each month's included AI.
- If you cancel during the trial, nothing is charged.
Read-only workspaces
A workspace becomes read-only 7 days after a trial ends without a plan, after a cancelled plan ends, or after a failed payment that is not fixed. In a read-only workspace:
- you and your team can still sign in, view and export all your data, and pay;
- you cannot create or send new tests, invitations, interviews, offers or workflows;
- candidates who already have a link can still take their test.
Choosing a plan, or a successful payment, restores full use at once. Nothing is deleted because a workspace is read-only.
Plans arranged with us
If your organisation's plan was arranged with ProctoHire directly (for example under a written agreement), that agreement decides the price and billing, and it takes priority over these terms where they differ.
Acceptable use
You and your users must not:
- break any law, including employment, anti-discrimination and data protection law;
- upload malware, unlawful content, or content you have no right to use;
- probe, break or overload the service's security, or try to reach another customer's data;
- copy, resell or reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows it;
- run assessments for other organisations as a service, or share one workspace between unrelated organisations, without a separate agreement with us;
- send spam through the service.
We may suspend specific accounts, users or traffic at once when needed to protect the service, our customers or candidates. We tell you why, unless the law or security prevents it.
Your candidates and your data
- You own the data you and your candidates put into ProctoHire. We use it only to provide, support and secure the service, and where the law requires.
- For candidate data, you decide how it is used and we process it for you, as our Privacy Policy explains.
- You are responsible for telling candidates what each test records (screen, camera, typing, pastes) and why before it starts, and for any consent the law requires.
- You can export your data and delete candidates' data at any time. You can ask us to delete your whole workspace; we then delete it, except records the law requires us to keep.
AI features
- AI features give suggestions: marks, summaries, transcripts and drafts. They can be wrong.
- A person in your organisation must review AI output before relying on it. Do not use it as the only basis for a hiring decision.
Proctoring evidence
Proctoring signals and integrity scores are evidence for a person to review. They do not prove that a candidate cheated. Decide only after reviewing the evidence.

- We work to keep ProctoHire available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Services of other companies
Some features work with services you choose, such as video meeting links, your calendar or your own email server. Their own terms apply to them.
Confidentiality
Each of us keeps the other's non-public information confidential and uses it only for these terms. This does not cover information that is public, already known, developed independently, or that the law requires to be shared.
Ownership
ProctoHire, its software, design and content belong to us. These terms let you use the service while your trial or plan is active; they do not transfer ownership.
Warranties and liability
- We provide ProctoHire with reasonable skill and care. Apart from what these terms say, the service is provided "as is", as far as the law allows.
- Neither of us is liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or goodwill.
- Our total liability for all claims in any 12 months is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Ending the agreement
- You can stop using ProctoHire and ask us to close your workspace at any time.
- We may suspend or close a workspace that seriously breaks these terms and is not put right after we tell you, or at once if there is a serious security or legal risk.
- If we stop offering ProctoHire, we tell you in advance and refund what you paid for any period after it stops.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We post the new version here with its date, and email workspace owners about important changes before they apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Pune, Maharashtra have jurisdiction. Before going to court, we will each try in good faith to settle a dispute by talking.
If you are a candidate
- You use ProctoHire because a company invited you. That company's own terms and privacy notice apply to its hiring.
- Take the test yourself, without help the test does not allow, and do not copy or share its questions.
